Here’s an update to my off the grid, tiny house life, in the city! I live here without a bill or debt to my name and life is splendid. I grow food, live on rainwater, compost, harness the energy of the sun with solar panels, practice a near zero waste life, and ride my bamboo bike around town.
My last video left a lot of unanswered questions so here’s a new video that answers a lot of them and gives an update of all the change I made to the place! It’s just hard to cover everything I’m doing in under 10 minutes but this video will answer questions like: where do I shower?, what about city code?, whose land am I on, and do I pay rent?
I’ve made a lot of improvements over the last month. Every week the place is more beautiful and more self-sustaining.
Enjoy the video!

Here’s the first video of The Teeny Greeny if you missed it:

You mentioned a few times that you but your produce fresh but I thought you got it out of dumpsters?? Either way is cool
Sometimes I go the dumpsters and sometimes I buy local, organic food from the farmers market or food co-op!!

I also harvest rain water and I was wondering what you do to cut down on mosquito larvae? Not in your drinking water but in your collection containers?
You never disappoint Rob!! You've inspired me to go out and live simply & that it isn't impossible. Just love your enthusiasm and love for life!
Thank you so much for sharing. You are an inspiration! Keep shining your light, friend!

you are amazing..What you are doing is not possible for some people but one day soon I believe more and more will have to learn.
Hey Rob, BRAVO!!!
very cool and all. but how do you build all this stuff with no tools? i'm very handy and build alot of my own stuff as well. but i own plenty of tools from low tech (screw drivers) to battery powered drills and cutters to air tools. how do you make stuff with no tools that you own.
not trying to be negative, just trying to get a real feel on how things go.
You have to keep them covered. My containers are sealed and just have a small ventilation hole which I put a screen over. So either screen or a sealed cover will keep them out!
You share tools with others! Tool Libraries are one of the coolest things out there! http://www.thetoollib.com/
I have screens and covers and they still get in. Someone suggested using mosquito dunks. Down here in the south mosquitoes are a big problem.
Hi am really inspired by your way of life and have had similar feelings in recent years taht life is easier the more you simplify. Thank you for you website and sharing your journey
I actually teared up watching this, cant wait to do the same. Thank you
very impressive! Just wondering how you cope in cooler weather?
Do you want to live the rest of your life in this way,or is this a short time project to emphesize earthfriendly living for other people?
Thank you for your inspiring blog and role modelling Rob! I live a teeny greeny life too but Actually, my “teeny greeny” house is a bit bigger than yours,Rob,in terms of height (I can walk around in mine) and it measures 10 square metres. I am a 57 grandmother who has found this lifestyle very suited to a simple life… in order to have the time and energy to be very close to my daughter, son-in-law and little grandsons…as well as for myself in terms of enjoying the simple and amazing pleasures of extended family living and being able to have time to pursue my creative interests and just the simple joy of gardening, growing our own food, knowing our neighbours and neighbourhood, riding our bikes to get around to go slow and fast at the same time and to really get to know our lovely hometown and gorgeous surroundings! Feel so blessed to live teeny, greeny, simple and frugal! If only people knew how happy and free they would feel!
My one regret is that as yet I haven’t found the courage to shout it from the rooftops or in a blog as you do! Because we live in a society and country where “officially” it isn’t even “legal” to live like this. But I/we are blessed to have wonderful neighbours! And I know I WOULD have the courage to scream out if anyone tried to stop me living as I AM!!!
Neat! You enthusiastically demonstrate "Simplicity is happiness".
