Switch the Stick

Oceans provide the oxygen for every second breath we take. When I’m 45, there could be more plastic in the oceans than fish. Something like millions of Q-tips are flushed down the toilet each year, being so small they pass through sewage filters into rivers and seas. The plastic is then eaten and even ends up in our food chain.

Natalie Fee, founder of City to Sea was fed up with finding them in the water, so she created the petition asking retailers to ‘switch the stick.’ 157,000 people signed a petition to ask UK retailers to stop making Q tips with plastic stick. They listened and will make the switch from plastic to paper in 2017! Stopping over 320 tons of single-use plastic being produced each year.
Share if you want more countries to switch the stick!
