Community Fruit Trees

We are very excited to be launching the Community Fruit Tree Project by planting 100 community fruit trees in Orlando, Florida! You might be wondering, what exactly is a community fruit tree?

Well, it’s pretty simple. A community fruit tree is a publicly owned fruit tree that is easily accessible for anyone to pick from. A sign next to the tree invites people to enjoy the fruit as well as giving information about the tree such as when it flowers and fruits. Each tree can be found on an online map (coming soon) and fallingfruit.org as well. We will plant community fruit trees at locations such as residential front yards and businesses along the sidewalk, the medians between streets and sidewalk, public schools, public parks, and along bike trails. The idea is to put fruit right where people walk every day and make it as accessible as it can be.

Gardens for Single Moms

50 million American are food insecure. This means that even with the US being one of the wealthiest nations on Earth, a staggering number of people simply don’t have enough to eat… And one of the hardest hit populations are single parents and their children.

None of us can change the world and none of us can end hunger alone, but we can change the world of a few people in our community and create a positive ripple from there. That’s why we’ve started Gardens for Single Moms.

Green Riders- Good Deeds on Bikes!

Hello friends!
I’m excited to announce that I’m cycling across the USA for the 3rd time. But what I’m really excited to announce is that YOU ARE INVITED. The first thing that might come to mind is “I couldn’t possibly keep up.” Well, great news for you, my partner, Cheryl Davies, is the co-host of this ride and she’s never rode more than 30 miles in a day. If she can do it, so can you!
This isn’t any old bike ride though. We are the Green Riders, cycling in the service of the many good people of our nation. All across the country we will be helping others to grow their own food and live more sustainably. We’ll be starting gardens at people’s homes, at schools, and in the communities of small towns and urban cities in every state that we pass through. Plus we’ll be Freestyle Gardening all over the country! Each place that we pass through will be left a slightly better place than we found it.
