Imagine living out of supermarket dumpsters for a whole week by turning the food waste into healthy, gourmet meals. That’s exactly what Rob did with the 21 Gourmet Dumpster Meals project. He did this while focusing attention on the amount of food that goes to waste in the United States (estimated at $165 billion annually) while providing tips people can use to eat ethically, healthfully, and in a sustainable way. The goal of the project was to demonstrate that he could eat more deliciously and nutritiously from dumpsters than the average American does from the supermarket aisles. In the project, Rob filled an entire fridge and a few cupboards, provided food to people on the streets, and made a hugely delicious and nutritious meal for friends and the public, all from food found in dumpsters!
